World Malaria Day 2025

World Malaria Day is an occasion to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment to malaria prevention and control. It was instituted by WHO Member States during the World Health Assembly of 2007.
The theme for World Malaria Day 2025 is “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.” This theme aims to raise awareness about the urgent actions needed in the fight against malaria, emphasizing the importance of continued investment, innovation, collaboration and commitment from the global malaria eradication community.
MMV and partners, including Catholic Relief Services and Malaria Consortium, have been supporting national malaria control programmes in rolling out SMC campaigns with great success. In 2024, 54 million children (partial data) were covered by SMC across 19 countries, and cumulatively, 1.285 billion treatments have been delivered since 2012.
This year's theme reinforces SMC Alliance's aim to protect children under age 5 in endemic settings during the rainy season when malaria transmission rates are at their highest.
