The OPT-SMC team speaks on actions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic at the SOAP conference in Gabon.

The 11th Conference of the African Society for Parasitology was held in Gabon from the 5th to the 7th of December, 2024. The theme of this year's conference was on challenges in controlling parasitic and mycotic diseases during emergency health situations.

The OPT-SMC team, represented by Dr. André-Marie Tchouatieu presented on actions taken by the team to help countries mitigate the challenges that emrged during the COVID-19 pandemic. The team presented the work and experiences from the support videos made to help countries adhere to to safely and effectively implement SMC during the pandemic.

The team also shared its findings on research conducted with countries on how measures they implemented to help adapt and successfully implement SMC during the pandemic.
